We’re hugely excited about the newest addition to our range: the RIGA. Stylistically, this is a big departure from our past designs, but we’ve still maintained the durability and handcrafted quality that Woodbender is known and loved for.
The RIGA combines elegant lines and overall minimalism, celebrating the Scandinavian influence currently on trend in many facets of the design world. This aesthetic expertly joins with the same hard wearing quality that makes our solid bentwood furniture ideal for using in hospitality environments or in your home.
Over the years, we’ve named our furniture after different places that we’ve visited or that embody the spirit of the specific designs. Think of the ancient elegance of Toscana in Italy, the upper-crust streets of Chelsea in London or the laid back glamour of a Clifton beach! After all, travel is one of the most inspiring ways to fuel creativity and encourage innovative thinking.
With our newest chair though, we wanted to do something different. So we decided to ask the public what they thought, inviting them to name our newest chair and win a set of four chairs valued at R14500. We teamed up with Elle Decoration as we knew their readers would get a kick out of coming up with a creative concept for our beautiful new chair:
Out of many entries, the winner suggested that our new chair be called the RIGA. We liked the way the winner had taken the Scandinavian influence and chosen the capital of Latvia as their name. Riga as a city combines cutting-edge cool with timeless tradition, and we can’t think of a better description that embodies what we do at Woodbender. We aim to use this name and role out other new releases in 2017 that will have a similar “Skandi” feel, featuring the names of other Scandinavian cities.
Made in South Africa from the finest sustainable North American Ash, the RIGA chair is customisable to any look and feel, meaning you can style it yourself choosing from extensive range of unique timber finishes and varied fabric choices.
