Well-made wooden chairs have an innate strength and durability, especially when made from solid hardwoods, such as the Ash we use for all our Woodbender pieces. We specialise in designing and manufacturing chairs and stools that are precision-engineered to excel in high-traffic environments and enhance any space with their unique style and versatility. Bending solid timber into the required forms reduces the component parts needed. As a result, the product contains fewer joints and, therefore, fewer potential weak points. The inherent strength of the ash timber is also preserved since instead of cutting the required shapes out of the wood, we bend the shape, keeping the grain of the wood intact.

The art of bending wood lends itself to the manufacture of seating pieces. Chairs and stools are the hardest working of all furniture pieces and are often used for many more purposes than simply for our relaxation and comfort. Bending wood produces far less waste, and we can therefore optimise a plank of timber and make sure it is efficiently used. In addition, bending solid timber offers unique styling and design opportunities.  

Our wooden furniture pieces are individually handcrafted in South Africa from ash timber which has been sourced from certified sustainable forests. Each piece in our collection consists of bentwood parts which ensures a unique product and, more importantly, a product that is superior in strength and durability.
